Hail To The Victors!

Well, they did it. My son Kyle’s hockey team won their hockey championship tonight by a score of 7-2, and completed their undefeated season. 10 wins, 0 losses.
Damn. The boy is only 7 and already he has the same amount of championships as his 39 year old Dad.
Ya think Kyle was geared up for tonight’s game?
The team probably played their best game tonight, after recovering from a 2-1 deficit in the first period. They hustled and fought their way back, breaking the other team’s spirit enroute to the win.
Of course, the unnamed loudmouth, ig’nant Dad didn’t help . . .
Kyle didn’t play goaltender tonight, as his coach went with the team’s original starter, Pat. Kyle played right wing in the first two periods and center in the third. He finished the game with an assist – I thought he tipped in the second goal, but when I asked him, he admitted, “I didn’t touch it, Dad. It was Joey’s goal.”
Either way, he had a terrific time playing, and that’s the important part. Now, we get to enjoy a well-deserved rest between seasons. One day. Kyle’s first soccer practice is on Wednesday night.
Kyle celebrates his assist.
