September 11th, 2001: Never Forget

Today is September 11th. I don’t have to remind anyone of the significance of this day in American history. Here are two clips. First, from the cold perspective of a documentary:

Personally, I prefer the second video to shock people back to reality. Seven years removed, far too many Americans have forgotten what happened, how it happened, and (most importantly) WHY it happened.
Instead, we are wringing our hands over the “rights” of terrorists who would murder another 3,000 Americans if given the chance. We are treating the War on Terror as a police problem instead of a military problem, content to see throat-slitting animals have their day in court. We are arguing amongst ourselves about what other countries think of us, because if we cannot be good “citizens of the world,” then we must be a flawed people.
Are you frakkin’ kidding me?
Seven years ago today, Islamo-fascist savages declared war on America. Until every one of these animals is either captured or killed, the war will never be over. Remember that.

The threat is ever-present and people need to realize that fact. It is not opinion. It is fact.

We have forgotten the threat. The reason we have not been attacked in seven years is NOT because they haven’t been trying.

Obama is living proof that people forget…. Either that or they never got it in the first place.
I think some people live lives that are so sheltered from reality that they just can’t comprehend that evil exists in the world, and that it must be confronted. Anything less is surrender.

I still cry whenever I think about this day. This is the same day I found out I was pregnant with my 6 year old.
I have been thinking about this day a lot and how to tell my children about it. I’m still at a loss. How do you explain evil?

“Obama is living proof that people forget”
Could someone please explain that to me? Because invading and attacking the wrong country wasn’t the solution, while allowing the Taliban to regain it’s strength wasn’t the correct solution, was it?
And we are worried about what others think? Sometimes that is appropriate. Let’s examine a statement made earlier: The Russians invaded Georgia and killed innocent civilians. That is terrible.
No substitute Iraq for Georgia and United States for Russia. Same thing, but it isn’t terrible?
I do agree with one thing- this war will never end. Because you will never have a world without people who hate us. Nor can you identify or kill them all. 9-11 was a horrible terrorist act. It is not a license for us to do whatever we want. The most frustrating thing about 9-11 is that unlike Pearl Harbor, there is not a clearly identified enemy.
