Idiotic? Shoe Betcha!
By Wyatt Earp | December 15, 2008
Maybe you heard the story about the “journalist” who threw his shoes at President Bush? Yeah, I laughed, too. Here’s the gist of it:
BAGHDAD, Iraq — A man identified as an Iraqi journalist threw shoes at — but missed — President Bush during a news conference Sunday evening in Baghdad, where Bush was making a farewell visit.
Bush ducked, and the shoes, flung one at a time, sailed past his head during the news conference with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in his palace in the heavily fortified Green Zone.
The shoe-thrower — identified as Muntadhar al-Zaidi, an Iraqi journalist with Egypt-based al-Baghdadia television network — could be heard yelling in Arabic: “This is a farewell … you dog!”
While pinned on the ground by security personnel, he screamed: “You killed the Iraqis!”
Al-Zaidi was dragged away. While al-Zaidi was still screaming in another room, Bush said: “That was a size 10 shoe he threw at me, you may want to know.” (H/T - CNN)
There is a video of the incident circulating the internet, but I was able to land some rare, unseen footage of the assault - courtesy of Uncle Ray. The footage is below the fold.
Heh, classic.

Bush was quick. So was the press who, by the tone of last night’s broadcast, would all like to pin a medal on the guy and make him a star on CNN.

See, who says journalists are liberal or express bias?

Did you see the guy who was closest to the shoe tosser? He had a knife about a foot long in his right hand, looked like. I’d sure like to know whose security team that guy was on.
A buddy of mine who worked Housing had something like that on his duty belt for a while.
