Lance Armstrong: Back In Black (And Gold)

He’s back, baby! And apparently, Lance is none the worse for wear.
This is definitely the best news I have read in three years.
ADELAIDE, Australia - Two days into his first professional cycling race in three years and after a hard day at the Tour Down Under, Lance Armstrong said Wednesday he was having “a helluva good time”.
However, the 37-year-old has no illusions that his return to cycling— focused on his attempt in June to win his eighth Tour de France—will be dictated by age and condition.
He’ll win the Tour de France this year. Bank on it.
“The comeback, so to speak, is at least a year,” he said. “It’s not three or four, I don’t think, but it could be two years. I’ve got to get through the first part of this season and then decide.
Armstrong said he had been given no cause to reconsider the wisdom of his comeback in the two stages so far of the Tour Down Under.
He rode 90 miles in blast-furnace heat on Tuesday and another 92 miles in cooler conditions Wednesday, but found no cause on either day to question his decision to return. (H/T - )
Say what you want about Armstrong, but the man is one Hell of a competitor. When he puts his mind to a task, nothing ever gets in his way. I watched the Tour de France the last three years, but it just wasn’t the same without Lance.
I have a feeling that this year’s event will be worth the wait.

The man is just amazing at what he does. Ray Bourque was the same type of athlete… just unreal lung capacity and stamina.

Completely concur. We want an athlete for a Hero? Look no farther than Lance Armstrong.

He reminds me of Michael Jordan in one way: a genuine love for the sport he competes in. When Jordan came back to play for the Washington Wizards, there was nothing he needed to prove or surpass. He came back, I believe, because he loved the game that much.
Lance Armstrong is the same way; he doesn’t need to prove or surpass anything, or, like Jordan, need to leave his mark on the sport. He’s back because he loves it.
