A Philadelphia African-American coalition, which sounds a whole lot like a racially exclusive organization to me, is rejecting the Senate’s slavery apology. Why? Because it doesn’t go far enough.
“Far enough” for these gold diggers being nothing less than reparations.
A national coalition of African-Americans seeking reparations for slavery has rejected a U.S. Senate resolution that apologizes for the enslavement of blacks. The local chapter of the group repeated its call for monetary damages to be paid.
Charlotte Harris of the Philadelphia chapter of the group N-Cobra spoke at a news conference on Independence Mall, saying an apology doesn’t go far enough to compensate the descendants of slaves for what she says are disadvantages faced in education, poverty, health, and in the justice system.
Okay, show of hands. Who did not see this coming? Anyone, anyone?
Look Charlotte, the last time I checked, every American slave and every American who owned a slave is long deceased. No member of N-Cobra has been held in bondage or systematically oppressed by the white man. Thus, neither you, nor anyone else is deserving of reparations. Not now. Not ever. And especially not when these reparations would be paid by white Americans who never owned slaves to begin with!
Harris argues that the senate resolution also falls short of taking full responsibility for the ills of slavery:
“A resolution that inserts disclaimers that prohibit the just reckoning of the atrocities committed is a resolution that offers insufficient redress.” (H/T – KYW1060)
Does anyone want to bet that Harris is using far too many big words that she doesn’t understand here? Hell, I’m a smart guy, and I have no idea of what the Hell she’s talking about!

Let’s do it the REALLY fair way:
First, prove that you are a descendant of a slave
Second, identify the descendants of family who owned slaves or profited from the slave trade.
The proven slaves can only seek reparations from the proven owners.
Here’s the fun part: many of the descended slaves are also probably descended from the families of the slave owners, either by force or willingly in a mixed-race marriage!

Bitter..don’t forget one must first go back to Africa to see who the people were that transported them here. They too are guilty. Also reperations from the various descendants in Africa whose tribal ancestors sold, kidnapped or captured them in inter tribal warfare, to sell them in the first place, must also pay. Also I personally feel that blacks owe all of the world , especially to us whites, reperations for the injustices of the egyptian pharaohs who were 1) mainly african 2) the worlds first true mass slavers as an institution 3) raided europe
extensively for slaves mainly regions now known as italy, sicily, france, spain etc. In short if they want to go back in history to assign blame to people who would not be alive till hundreds of years after the events, we can too. YES WE CAN! God I love that saying:)
P.S. If they do manage to get any cash some of it should of course go to combat slavery still exisiting in Africa, and the Middle East especially, that still exists today long after we made it illegal.

Every time I have visited Philly AA are protesting something at Independence Mall. Usually they are protesting the Mumia trial for killing Officer Danny Faulkner.

Walter Williams (who was born in Philadelphia) makes some interesting points about slavery reparations:
Some blacks purchased other blacks as a means to free family members. But other blacks owned slaves for the same reason whites owned slaves — to work farms or plantations. Are descendants of these blacks eligible and deserving of reparations?
There is no way that Europeans could have captured millions of Africans. They had African and Arab help.
Should Congress haul representatives of Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Muslim states before them and demand they compensate American blacks because of their ancestors’ involvement in capturing and selling slaves?
Reparations advocates make the foolish unchallenged pronouncement that the United States became rich on the backs of free black labor. That’s utter nonsense. Slavery has never had a very good record of producing wealth.
Think about it. Slavery was all over the South. Buying into the reparations nonsense, you’d have to conclude that the antebellum South was rich and the slave-starved North was poor.
The truth of the matter is just the opposite. In fact, the poorest states and regions of our country were places where slavery flourished — Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia — while the richest states and regions were those where slavery was absent — Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts.

I am in agreement with reparations. In lieu of a direct cash payment we should take those displaced back to their peaceful homelands at no charge. Those who opt to not make this voluntary trip will then relinquish any claims to monies owed.

What do I get for being part Native American?
Being systematically exterminated is a LOT worse than being systematically oppressed and you don’t hear the other natives complaining like this. They usually refuse money from the government.
And the other part of my family came over well after that was all over so they can’t even say that my ancestors did it.
