Happy Birthday Allison!

Today is my sister Allison’s 24th birthday. And yes, that is her on the left, exactly how I like to remember her: when she wasn’t such a wiseass. Heh.
If you know my age – Lord knows I always blab about it – you’ll realize that there was a gap between Me, Randal, and Allison. She is 16 years younger than me, and 13 years younger than Randal.
So, when I was in high school, I had to babysit my sister often. My parents was doing shift work, so the responsibility came down to me. I fed her, changed her diapers, and watched her grow up from the tiny little girl with the blond hair to the accomplished college graduate she is now. She is starting nursing school at the end of the year, and we are all very proud of her.
And while I cursed the fact that at 16 my social life suffered a near-fatal blow, I rejoice in the fact that she helped me form parenting skills that turned me into the half-decent Dad I am today.
Happy birthday, Al! We love you.

My husband’s sister was 19, and his oldest brother was 16 1/2 when he was born. His brother would take a 5 year old Mr. Crankipants out on dates, and the gals loved it! Lemons into lemonade.
