Cassidy’s Killer Guilty Of 1st Degree Murder
By Wyatt Earp | November 20, 2009
This piece of garbage is now eligible for the death penalty. Personally, I am rooting for that.
A Philadelphia jury is to consider whether a man convicted of first-degree murder for killing a policeman deserves the death penalty.
The baby-faced cop killer who blurted a tearful apology to the slain officer’s widow in court could face the death penalty after being convicted of first-degree murder on Thursday.
A jury found John Lewis, 23, had intent to kill when he fired at Philadelphia police Officer Chuck Cassidy at a West Oak Lane doughnut shop in 2007. Lewis, who had been committing a string of increasingly violent crimes, was robbing the Dunkin’ Donuts at gunpoint when Cassidy unknowingly interrupted him.
The panel returned its verdict a week after Lewis entered a surprise guilty plea to a general charge of murder following days of jury selection. The penalty phase, to determine whether Lewis gets life in prison or the death penalty, begins Friday. (H/T – CBS3)
Hopefully, the jury will deliver sentencing soon, so Chuck can finally rest in peace.

Hopefully he will get executed soon.

While this POS deserves a swift execution, with his plea it will be unlikely he gets the needle.
I want to know how the DC sniper got snuffed in only 5 years when out here it seems to take 18 to 22 years to execute someone after they are convicted. It is sad how our justice system works for the repeat, violent offenders. We need to get tough on these scum that refuse to play by society’s rules.

Ingineer66, somehow south of the mason dixon line we work through the bullshit faster and execute sooner.
One reason I moved here.
Needless to say, my original state of Pa. has millions of great people but somehow they have not gotten the reins of government.
Hope springs eternal!

Just curious about something…
Are there any rules about LEO’s serving on juries?
My instincts are that LEO’s and even their family would be dismissed from the jury pool in a case like this.
Firefighters in a case of arson?
Doctors/nurses in a medical malpractice suit?
Again, just curious.

Rick – Never happen in PA, but sitting on Death Row would be nice.
Ingineer66 – Mumia abu-Jamal is still alive and sucking off the teat of our tax money 28 years after he killed P/O Danny Faulkner. 28 years.
Ralph – Philly and Pittsburgh ruin the rest of the state.
Kaveman – Active Philly officers are excused from jury duty. Always. A retired officer could sit on the jury, but the defense would fight to keep him or her off. I think the same holds true for the other examples, too.

I wish they’d stop referring to this POS as “baby-faced”, and instead call him what he is- a cold blooded murderer.

Cripes….wonder if this POS will somehow get a fanclub like Mumia’s.

When I was still married to my ex-wife, I was on jury duty for a DUI case and told them I was a highway construction engineer for the DOT and my wife was a trauma nurse. I figured I would be excused for sure. I ended up being jury foreman. So who knows how the lawyers pick the people they want to excuse.

Bag ‘em and tag ‘em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Toe tag that is. It is a shame a public execution on the gallows can’t happen. When scum gets to see their compadres go through a trap door with a rope around the neck it would have a decided effect.

Wyatt – Yea, pgh does suck. Still find it amusing that the county issues the most (or is in the top five) number of concealed weapon permits.
And baby faced? If I had a baby that looked like that I’d strangle it at birth. Just saying.

Mrs. Crankipants – Yeah, he’s a baby-faced piece of s**t.
Fenway_Nation – Probably not, since he confessed in front of the TV cameras after he was caught.
Ingineer66 – And they don’t need a reason to throw someone out.
Glenn – It worked for Saddam Hussein.
Dano – The poster child for VERY late-term abortion.
