Owens Takes One Hour To Break 4 Promises
By Wyatt Earp | November 7, 2009
Did you hear that? It’s the sound of John D’s head exploding.
After being sworn into the US House, the New York Democrat announced that he had changed his mind and would endorse Pelosi’s nationalized health care plan after all. The Gouverneur reported, via RedState:
Congressman-elect Bill Owens was sworn in at noon today.
Owens indicated in a press release that he was now in favor of the bill in direct contrast to his earlier position during his campaign.
According to Politico.com, Mr. Owens assured voters that he felt the public option had no place in the health care reform bill. Contrary to that position, Mr. Owens now indicates that he intends to vote in favor of the bill even though it now contains a public option.
Of course, this surprises no one. (H/T – Gateway Pundit)
Four broken promises in your first hour in office. Even for a politician, that has to be some kind of record. right?

Okay. I just laughed, but I’m not sure why.

In the novel ‘Friday’, Heinlein wrote of a future California where recall petitions were being circulated on election day, before the polls closed.

Well color me surprised! Thankfully, my head didn’t explode when I read that this morning. I’m in Cape Cod for Air Guard drill this weekend, and I always pre-wrap my head in duct tape before venturing this deep into Kennedy Country.
Contrary to what the punditocracy (and Newt Gingrich) have been saying, NY-23 is not like Manhattan. I lived much of my life there, and the differences between that part of the state and the populous parts at the south end are striking. His reversals will not be appreciated by the “rednecks” (i.e., people who aren’t cappuccino-drinking liberal types) that live up that way. This clown Owens is up for re-election in 2010, so I’d expect to see him unceremoniously bounced come election day.

Only broke four in the first hour, Amazing

Sure! He had to break four in just one hour. He will only represent NY-23 for a year. Especially if the freakin’ Repubs do not nominate a jerk like Scazzafava. (Or what ever her name is.)

Great now what the hell is any future poll gonna do to impress us with their amazing disregard for the voters?
Owens pretty much pwned every broken promise record while leaving an unbeatable one of his own.
That’s going to be tough to beat.

RT – Because it was either that or cry?
Lergnom – That’s a policy I could really get behind!
John D – He probably knows that he’s only in for a year, so why not frak the polulace?
Rick – Unbelievable, isn’t it?
Joated – That nomination was complete lunacy.
Chris C – He’s the Wayne Gretzky of political incompetence.
