Getting assaulted by a thug can be seen as a badge of honor in the police department. Stories about the cop getting a bottle broken over his head, or getting hit in the arms with a baseball bat are always interesting.
Well, most of the time.
Middletown, N.J. police say Gary Burke, 28, from Atlantic Highlands went into the Sears on Highway 35. He had planned to return a weed whacker he had purchased at the store but the lawn and garden section of the store was closed. Employees told Burke that he would have to return later. They say that Burke started to yell and scream at employees and refused to leave the store. They called police.
Patrolman Thomas Meckier and Patrolman Richard Fulham arrived at the store and told Burke that he would have to leave. They say they were trying to escort him out when Burke hit Meckier with the weed whacker.
If the officer was trimmer, maybe he could have avoided the hit.
After months of enduring a leaking pipe that buckled its floors and sagged its ceilings, an empty Massachusetts house somehow called police for help.
The Salem News reports the 911 call went out to police from a house in Marblehead on Wednesday after water short-circuited the phone system, apparently sparking the emergency call. Officers were sent to the address after the call was recorded as a hang up and a return call got static.
My house won’t even answer the door for me. What’s that all about?

As for calling the police, in policy and procedures handbook it states that if someone dies on the premises I am to call the police. It never said which police or what jurisdiction. I’m thinking Philly police should be called in such an event.
Policy is being followed, right?

hah… Middletown.. I love it when it’s stories far away, yet also some personal “local” association. Yep, been there, that Sears even. Used to live just south on 35, at Fort Monmouth, and I’ve even been to that Sears as recent as earlier this year.
oh yeah, and Pippa does have an amazing tush.
