Joe Paterno Commits An NCAA Violation

By Wyatt Earp | June 22, 2011

Full disclosure: I despise Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. The man hasn’t actually coached the team for years, and should have retired decades ago. He hangs on because he is a self-absorbed tool trying to cement his legacy as one of college football’s greatest coaches. Sadly, Joe Pa is a member of the Brett Favre school: His records are merely the product of a very long career.

That said, I giggled when I saw . Joe Pa’s senility is catching up with him.

The 84-year-old coach acknowledged Monday that he inadvertently broke an NCAA rule while walking through his own campus. He said he stopped to watch several football players during their voluntary workout – he didn’t speak to anyone – and then reported back to his other coaches that one player in particular looked good. One of the assistant coaches then told Paterno that he had committed an NCAA violation.

Of course, it’s a minor violation, but one that Penn State has already acknowledged it’s reporting to the NCAA. The result will likely be a reprimand that amounts to a slap on the wrist, but it still has to be reported to maintain good NCAA standing.

A reprimand? Damn, I was hoping they would ban him for life.

John D. – Oh, that would be much, much better.

Ferrell – His assistant coaches have run things there for a while. But hey, let’s give all the credit to Paterno!

Hell, he can’t SEE the field through those glasses, how in hell can he call plays??? All the assistants play along, hoping one of them will be ‘singled out’ as the heir apparent…
