When you spend a lot of time in law enforcement, you start to see the bad in everyone. It’s no surprise, since we surround ourselves with criminals all day.
Then, just when you think you’ve seen it all, someone comes along and makes you wonder if it would be better if the human race just went extinct.
It was a disturbing scene in Mesa very early Sunday morning as police searched for the driver responsible for a gruesome hit-and-run.
Police are also looking for one man’s missing body part. They said the driver rammed into two pedestrians and then took off – possibly with a portion of the victim’s leg still stuck to the front of the car. (H/T – C.M.)
One has to wonder what this scrote did with the leg.
James Downey Jr., who survived the infamous Bataan Death March in 1942 and became an inspiration to his family, died Monday. He was 96 years old. In 1942, Downey was a young soldier in the prime of life, six years removed from a tryout on the 1936 U.S. Olympic swim team, when Japanese soldiers captured him on April 9.
He was put in line with thousands of other prisoners and ordered to start walking. The rule was simple, he recalled. If you stop, you die.

A few years ago, another Bataan survivor spoke at the Dining Out for the 171st ARW. I can’t do justice to the man here, but it was incredible to listen to him.
And yes, he referred to the enemy as “Dirty Japs.”

One has to wonder why at all of the Japanese garrisoned islands, there were very few or no survivors when the marines were done. Was it really the Code of Bushido
requiring them to kill themselves rather than surrender
or did we remember Pearl Harbour and Bataan. If it was the former..good. If it was the latter I forgive them and again..good.

Master Sergeant Downey also carried his brother a good portion of the march. His brother survived the march thanks to him, but later died in the prison camp.
This man marched not just for his survival but that of his brother. If he stopped, they would have both died.
