Sheriff Joe Rounds Up A Posse

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is doing a truly thankless job. The Arizona sheriff is fighting the good fight against illegal immigration, and he is getting stonewalled by our our federal government. It would seem that the toads in Washington are more concerned with the illegals than the officers enforcing the laws. Go figure, huh?

The situation has gotten so bad in Arizona that Arpaio has enlisted help from celebrities to take the fight to the criminals.

Some of the names may surprise you.

“America’s toughest sheriff,” Phoenix’s Joe Arpaio, is creating an armed “Immigration Posse” to combat illegal immigration, and Hollywood actors Steven Seagal and Lou Ferrigno, along with Dick Tracy and Wyatt Earp, have signed up.

Fighting Justice Department accusations that his office discriminated against illegal immigrants during arrests, Sheriff Arpaio said the civilian posse of more than 50 members gives citizens a chance to fight the problem inundating their border state. (H/T – Code Monkey)

Barbara McDevitt-Kelly, 1950-2010

Cousin Barbara passed away yesterday after succumbing to a subdural hematoma. She was 60 years old.

Barbara is my mother-in-law’s cousin, and I first met her when the missus and I were dating. She was a soft-spoken person, but she possessed the biggest, loudest heart you could ever imagine. The fact that she accepted me so quickly is a testament to that, as I am not exactly Mr. Lovable. Barb had a lust for life, a zeal for living every moment to the fullest. That zeal only strengthened after she met Grant Kelly.

Barbara and Grant were inseparable. It is no exaggeration to say that they were the perfect couple. Between adventures, they jetted back and forth from their home in Vancouver, B.C. to their place in Florida, with frequent stops in New Jersey and New York to see the family. We were lucky enough to spend a lot of time with them when they were in the area, and enjoyed many a meal at my mother-in-law’s home. Everyone knew Barbara was a happy person, but that happiness enveloped the room when Grant was by her side.

Humpday History Highlight

November 17, 1777 – Articles Of Confederation Submitted To States

The Articles had been signed by Congress two days earlier, after 16 months of debate. Bickering over land claims between Virginia and Maryland delayed final ratification for almost four more years. Maryland became the last state to approve the Articles on March 1, 1781, affirming them as the outline of the official government of the United States. The nation was guided by the document until the implementation of the current U.S. Constitution in 1789.

Less than five years after the ratification of the Articles of Confederation, enough leading Americans decided that the system was inadequate to the task of governance that they peacefully overthrew their second government in just over 20 years. The difference between a collection of sovereign states forming a confederation and a federal government created by a sovereign people lay at the heart of the debate as the new American people decided what form their government would take.

Brilliant men doing brilliant things. The Articles of Confederation – like the Constitution – are works of legislative art. And today we have politicians who think they are more intelligent than the Founders. Unreal.

Woman Arrested For “Weapons” Possession

Ya know, I have been a police officer/detective for sixteen years, and made more than a handful of weapons offenses. I have also seen a lot of odd and disturbing things.

That being said, I have never come across the perfect storm of oddity and nudity that these Illinois officers experienced.

Vicki K. Myers, 44, originally from Texas but living at the hotel on the 1600 block of Diehl Road, initially told police she was changing in the van when officers spotted her naked from the waist up at 9:45 p.m. Friday night, Sgt. Gregg Bell of the Naperville Police Department said.

However, the woman admitted to police she had gone to the van to touch herself, leaving her three children in the hotel room, Bell said. He also said police discovered “adult items” in the van. Myers also told police she had a loaded semiautomatic pistol under the seat, Bell said. (H/T – Ferrell Gummitt)

In her defense, she was just practicing sight alignment and breathing control.

LAPD Rookie Accesses Murder Witness Info

Just when you thought the bad cops were localized to Philadelphia and Chicago.

A rookie Los Angeles police officer has resigned amid allegations he illegally tapped into a law enforcement computer on behalf of a gang member who was recently convicted of murder.

The officer, Gabriel Morales, 25, was seeking information on two key witnesses who testified at the gang member’s murder trial, according to court records. Morales had been dating the gang member’s sister for several years. The law enforcement database that police say Morales accessed contains a wide array of personal information on people, including home addresses. Authorities said he made printouts of the information he found.

Prayers Please!

I just found out that one of our favorite family members – Cousin Barbara – was rushed to the hospital after suffering a subdural hematoma. She is in a coma, on a ventilator, and will be airlifted to a brain specialist in Daytona Beach later today. The missus tells me the prognosis does not look good.

She and her husband Grant were just married a few weeks ago, and we gladly loaded up the family to make the proceedings in New York. Barbara and Grant are two of the best people you would ever want to meet, and we would do anything for them. To be honest, we’re all really freaking out about this.

Please, I beg of you, send all of your prayers her way, and keep Grant in your thoughts.

PA Mulls Expanded Self-Defense Bill

There is no question that Philadelphia is a crime-infested cesspool. This year, shootings are up, robberies are up, and home invasions are up. The citizens here are being victimized by thugs every hour of every day.

If you live in one of these concrete target ranges we call Pennsylvania cities, good news may be on the way:

A bill headed to Governor Rendell’s desk would expand the right to use lethal force in self-defense in Pennsylvania. Currently, state law allows a person to use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, against an intruder in their home. The controversial bill given final legislative approval by the state House expands that right to any situation where a person feels threatened with harm in a place where they have a right to be.

Philadelphia House Democrat Cherelle Parker argued against the bill, saying lawmakers should honor law enforcement officials. “Respect their professional acumen. They have told us that this bill will be a nightmare.”

Democrats are against this bill? There’s a shocker. Look Cherelle, any law enforcement official that says this will be a nightmare is an idiot. We can’t be everywhere at once – especially in Philly, where our manpower is at record lows. People need to know that they have a right to protect themselves and their property in the event of an attack, and criminals need to know that if they continue to prey upon the citizens, there may be deadly repercussions.

Pam Anderson Will Do Indian Reality Show

I guess that’s better than what she usually does: giving oral sex to strangers for Pez.

Canadian model and former “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson will appear in reality television show “Bigg Boss,” the Indian version of “Big Brother.” Anderson, 43, was set to arrive in Mumbai late Monday and enter the live studio near the city Tuesday, a spokesman for the Colors television channel said.

Do you hear that? That’s Pam’s career making the final swirl down the drain.

Russian Cat Has A Dynamite Personality

A woman in St. Petersburg, Russia made terrific use of the city’s 911 system recently. The woman, who obviously dabbles in vodka, claimed her cat was going to kill her in a suicide bombing attack.

A lot of things have changed in Russia after the Cold War. Apparently, .

A Russian woman who was a little worse for wear with alcohol called police in the middle of the night to warn that her cat was about to blow up after swallowing explosives.

“A woman aged 45 called the police around 4:00 am to say that her cat contained explosives,” a statement from St Peterburg police said. “Officers went to the scene and spoke to the lady, who was in a drunken state.”

Wow, looks like she avoided a cat-astrophe.
